I Didn’t Plan to Become a Songwriter… Then I Tried Songer

I recently discovered a new AI music app called Songer, and honestly, I expected it to be a fun little toy.

What I didn’t expect was that I’d end up writing my own lyrics and making actual songs.

At first, I just wanted to have some fun. I created some songs for friends — birthday songs, inside jokes, fake dramatic love ballads. The app makes it incredibly easy. You type an idea, choose a vibe, and within moments you’ve got something that actually sounds… legit.

And that’s where it gets interesting

What started as jokes slowly turned into creativity. Instead of just entering prompts, I started tweaking lines. Then rewriting them. Then writing full verses myself. Suddenly I wasn’t just “using AI” — I was collaborating with it.

The funniest part? My friends started asking for more

There’s something empowering about hearing your words turned into a real song. It lowers the barrier. You don’t need a studio. You don’t need to know music theory. You don’t even need to think of yourself as creative. You just start.

And somewhere between the silly birthday anthem and the third dramatic breakup remix, I realized something:

I was actually enjoying writing lyrics.

Not because I wanted to be a musician — but because it felt playful and accessible. Songer made music creation feel like sending a text message instead of producing an album.

Now I’m experimenting more seriously. I’m writing my own verses from scratch. Playing with different genres. Seeing how mood changes rhythm and tone. It’s less about “AI made this” and more about “I made this — with help.”

I just created a song that I am planning to sing with friends!

And that shift is powerful.

If you’ve ever thought, “I’m not musical,” this might surprise you.

Sometimes creativity doesn’t start with talent. It starts with play.
